Biography

Biography:

JADED HEART (Was it a nod in the direction of DOKKEN ?) was officially founded by brothers Dirks and Michael Bormann. Unofficially, I assume the band was born in late 80’s, because on some re-issues there’re songs from that decade. Later, the brothers were joined by MAD MAX’s drummer Axel Kruse and bass player Michael Müller.

In 1994, JADED HEART released Inside Out with the help of Udo Bormann, father of Dirks and Michael. It was an opus which sounded as a mixture of AOR and Melodic Hard-Rock music. In 1997, they came back with their second shot $laves And Master$, which was more oriented Heavy-Rock, mainly due to drums lines. In addition, it was the first try as producer for Michael Borman. Further more, the band found their official keyboard player, Chris Ivo. Those two first efforts were, without a doubt, a good start in their musical career.

Unfortunately, one year later, the band was back to studio for a third production ! I said « unfortunately » because Mystery Eyes wasn’t exceptional but wasn’t bad either ! The fact is that Michael Bormann, main songwriter, was busy in 1998. This year, he launched THE SYGNET with his brother in arms Alex Beyrodt, plus the two boys played with DORO on stage.

Finally, in 1999, JADED HEART met success when they released IV, a classic album for many Hard-Rock aficionados. Michael Bormann also decided to concentrate himself on the vocals and then was replaced by ex-ACEZ guitar player Barish Kepic.

After a short break (and the release in 2001 of Diary 1990 – 2000, a compilation), the band recorded their fifth studio The Journey Will Never End. To be honnest, even if this album is one of my favorite discs from the band, it wasn’t acclaimed as IV. However, he received a good score in media. In addition, keyboard player Chris Ivo was replaced by Henning Wanner.

Two years later, the sixth studio effort Trust was available. At this point of JADED HEART’s story, you’ve to learn that Michael Bormann showed a new side of himself. I can’t tell you that he became arrogant, too proud of himself, but egos called more than music. This wasn’t a good moment for the band which finally decided to fire him. May be have you read that he left the band by his own decision ? This was another version of the story. The fact is that the situation was unhealthy in the band !

In 2004/2005, JADED HEART wanted to show that, without their charismatic leader, they still rocked ! They recruited Swedish ex-SCUDIERO’s singer Johan Fahlberg to replace Michael Bormann. They also recorded Helluva Time, which was at first a solo project of Barish Kepic. 80% of the instrumental songwriting session was made by Barish Kepic. He gave a chance to Johan Fahlberg to participate. Then, Johan Fahlberg wrote most parts of the lyrics in this release. The result was, in my opinion, one of the best JADED HEART’s efforts !!!

In 2007, guest guitar player Peter Östros on Helluva Time replaced Barish Kepic. The band started also their second era, which was more Melodic-Metal. First taste was Sinister Mind. In 2009, it was Perfect Insanity which combined Helluva Time and Sinister Mind music together. In 2012, they followed this orientation with newest effort Common Destiny which reached a new level ! Since 2007, the line-up didn’t change...
